Memory Lane...

I fell in love with Santa Barbara, CA in 1990. It was the first time I visited and I was with my older sister on her college tour of UCSB. To visit SB in the spring is a great way to begin a life-long love affair. The orange trees are just starting to bloom and the entire county smells of orange blossoms. The sky is clear and bright with sunshine (no summer marine layer haze yet). While the rest of the country is freezing cold and snowing, Santa Barbara remains in its mystical, summer land, state.
Santa Barbara is the pinnacle of perfection geographically for the United States. Don't let anybody tell you differently. An element of its nature is always present in the way Boxie is designed. Whether about color or texture, mood or purity, it is there.
Here are some pics I took from my latest trip.

No Sweat...

The Original Boxie Vneck Tee - the perfect work out tee.

I love to run in the mornings. It wakes me up, keeps me in shape, and gives my mind some much needed personal time before the day begins. My dog, Annie, and I run at least 5 mornings a week and we work hard. We sweat. 

So my work out gear takes a beating and a few weeks ago it was apparent that all my sport bras were toast and my leggings were threadbare. NOT a good combo for sports. I had to shop immediately.

This shopping trip has led to the BEST WORK OUT OUTFIT in forever and I had to share it here. If you work out, you understand that a new set of equipment or clothes can completely motivate you and revitalize your whole routine. In short, this means that this new pair of capris and new bra top and a new tee, gave me the best morning run this entire year. I felt faster, stronger, and awesome. First, I bought myself the Original Boxie Vneck tee in Banana for some run fast color.

At first I was worried about how much support this bra would offer but it was awesome. Great feel, great look, great support.

The weather is great so get out there and run, jog, walk, bike, scoot, skateboard, blade or just frolic...

Know Your Roots

This year of 2013 officially marks my 12th year in the fashion industry and, specifically, the Tee Shirt industry. Call it a mark of the depths of my obsession with what is now today's most essential item of clothing to grace all human bodies, male and female: The Tee Shirt.
Without letting my Art History degree completely take over this post, I do want to celebrate an iconic moment in the Tee Shirt's history: The 'Rebel' and Film. When Marlon Brando and, later, James Dean wore basic white tee shirts in their films, men's fashion was forever changed. Just look at these handsome devils!

Then, women wanted to start dressing like men. And we have the following gorgeous examples of Farrah Fawcett, Cindy Crawford and Claudia Schiffer, and modern day Halle Berry:

In 2001, after I finished college and was jobless in L.A., my aunt and uncle took pity on me. They called me up to offer me a generous, badly needed job at their clothing company, Grassroots, in Santa Monica, CA. That is when I cluelessly walked into what became an apprenticeship in the fashion industry and tee shirt world. The moment I started my first day in the warehouse making color swatch cards and answering phones, I was hooked. It has been a very long road, but now I am the owner of my own clothing company where the tee shirt tradition continues.
I love my tee shirt life and love the wonderful emails and messages that I've received over the past year from boutique owners and customers alike who have purchased a Boxie tee and fell in love too.
Let the tradition continue!
